Meet Brianne and Ashton Eaton: Olympic Power Couple!
He grew up in a small town in Oregon while she grew up down the road in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is a tirelessly hard worker with no fear and she is an ultra-fierce competitor that doesn’t take no for an answer. Together they are Ashton and Brianne Eaton… They met for the first time on Brianne’s recruiting trip to the University of Oregon. He thought she was the coolest girl he’d ever had a conversation with. After over 5 months together (part of which was at the Pan-American Games in Brazil…no big deal) Ashton finally mustered up enough courage to ask Brianne out, and the rest is history. The two were married in 2013 and have since been busy traveling for competitions and training for the 2016 Olympics Games.
In 2008 Ashton began competing professionally in the heptathlon and the decathlon. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 he placed first at the NCAA National Championships in the decathlon and in the heptathlon in 2009 and 2010. He holds the world record for the heptathlon with a score of 6,645 points, which earned him the gold medal at the World Indoor Championship in 2012 as well as earning a gold medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 with his decathlon score of 8,869 points.
Since then he broke the world record for the decathlon with a score of 9,045 points during the World Championships in Beijing in 2015. (So just a quick recap, Ashton currently holds the world record for the heptathlon AND the decathlon and he’s a total beast.)
You might be thinking that it would be pretty intimidating to be married to such an amazing athlete like Ashton, but Brianne has no problem holding her own…
She currently holds the Canadian record for the heptathlon with 6,808 points as well as the indoor pentathlon record with a score of 4,768 points. She is a silver medalist in the heptathlon from the 2013 and 2015 World Championships and a gold medalist from the 2016 World Indoor Championships where she competed in the pentathlon. She is the first and only Canadian women to stand on the podium a winner in the multi-events at the World Championships.
Ashton and Brianne Eaton are the definition of a power couple. As individuals they are arguably two of the best athletes in the world with medals and world records to show for it. But together they are adventure seekers who are passionately dedicated to being the best at everything they do. The two understand the sacrifices that come along with being elite athletes and at the end of the day they are each other’s biggest supporters. Ashton and Brianne will both be competing in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Ashton for USA in the decathlon and in the heptathlon Brianne for Canada.
